Bob Becker's Gameday Sports Science Forecast

Here is the forecast for the Vols game. A second cold front will cross the area tonight and scattered showers are likely tonight and especially Saturday morning. I tend to think the later in the day, the less rain we will see. There may be a few scattered light annoying rain showers here and there for the 6 p.m. kickoff, but rain will be less and less during the game. I expect the field to be in fairly good shape. Even if it rains tonight, as dry as it has been it won't take long for the ground to be fine for a game. behind that front I'm also not expecting very much wind. Look for West wins at 5 to 10 miles per hour. so if you're tailgating, the best chance for some showers will probably come during the Saturday morning hours. By afternoon will see a mixture of clouds and Sun but it will be much much cooler with a high only near 70. for 6 p.m. kickoff, there is about a 30% chance of a few hit-and-miss lite annoying showers for some of you. So there's no guarantee you'll get wet at the stadium but you might be safe just in case. by half time we should drop 267 degrees with a 20% chance of some drizzle and by the end of the game it will be dry and about 65 degrees. except for the chance of a few light scattered showers early in the game, it sounds like some pretty good football weather to me. Or even adding in the cooler weather to make it feel like football season. This is meteorologist Bob Becker
